It is held under the specification of the State Professinal Committee for Olympiadas in Foreign Language. This schedule is published in Učiteľské noviny every year. Constituent rounds are usually held in this period:

School round               -            December

Regional round            -            February or March

National round            -            April

Only the winner / winners take part in a consequent round. The competititon is devided into 2 parts – a written one and an oral exam.

    A written test includes

  • listening (2x and 5minutes to fulfill the task)

  • reading for comprehension (10 minutes)

  • vocabulary and grammar (15 minutes)

  • progressive testing (3 minutes) for 1D and 2D category

Students draw lots for the order in a competition and they compete under these numbers. Tests are also signed with a drawn number. The number also determines the student´s sequence in the oral exam.
After completing the task in the oral exam the students stay in a classroom. They cannot leave because the task is all the same for all the students in one category. When scores are summarizable and order list is made the names of the competitors are released.
